how do i get my bachelors degree while in the coast guard academy?

i wanna go to the academy then enlist to become a rescue swimmer (only planning on doing it the mandatory 5 years after finishing the academy) but was wondering how i could go to college to get my bachelors degree cause im planning on trying to become a lawyer.
is it possible to go to law school while enlisted or is that a fools dream? and how many years would it take to get the degree?

First of all the Academy is a 4 year university when you are done your 4 years there you get a Bachelors degree and a Commission as an officer. Officers can’t be Rescue Swimmers. If you forget about being a rescue swimmer and go to the Academy and become an officer you could put in to go to law school. After the Academy you go to your first unit, they will solicity for applicants to the Law program, you put your packet in and hope you get selected. You can apply and re-apply many times if you don’t get law school on the first try. You can’t go to law school and be enlisted at the same time, that opportunity doesn’t exist for enlisted members.

You don’t enlist after graduation, you’re commissioned, and rescue swimmers are enlisted… do you have any idea how hard it is tog et into the academy anyway?

There are a few flaws in what you said… after the Academy you’ll be commissioned. As someone else said swimmers are enlisted. If you want to be a swimmer you can go in when you turn 18.

It is not possible to go to law school and enlist. At least you won’t be able to attend a legitimate law school (there are some online programs). The law school you go to sort of determines how much you make one day- law firms put a lot of weight on where you get your education.

As for a bachelors- you can earn that while you serve via an online program. The military will pay TA (tuition assistance) which is 4500 a year plus there’s a new program with the GI bill where you can use it after you serve three years to pay for your education which is pretty awesome.

Get in to the coast guard and once you’ve learned you job- start a degree a few classes at a time. Good degrees for law school are Psychology, English,History, Criminal Justice, almost anything is a good degree for law school. When choosing a degree decide what kind of law you will be specializing in as well.

    nope.

one you may NOT enlist after attending the Academy as the entire puprose of the Academy is to grant 4 year degrees and commission you as an officer.

Law school would be seperate, and you would NOT be allowed to do that full time until you get out.

if you enlist it takes on average twice as long to get a degree.. so about 6-8 years for yourUndergrad and another 2-4 for your law degree
